Post Coal Prom Queen return with a beautiful and avant-garde new single - Protomartyr. The song has been a feature in the band's set since 2023 and has seen an incredible reception during their shows in the UK, Europe, and North America. Protomartyr sees the duo turn their gaze away from the heavens and look towards the surreal world of the microscopic - exploring ideas of ancient gods and the origins of life, but with the band's characteristic human-centric approach. It is the first single from PCPQ since the success of their expansive and operatic album Music for First Contact.

Through glitchy beats and a return to a guitar-driven sound, Protomartyr pivots seamlessly from monastic chants to hauntological riffs to squalling noise. Sonically, it's a microcosm of the band's career to date - experimental, ambitious, and deeply human.

The track will be accompanied by a self-produced music video and a series of remixes from Maniatrix, Texture, Daniel McGurty, and Camshachle. To listen to the remixes visit our Bandcamp. It will be followed by an EP of new material in the latter half of 2024.
